The Effect of Adding Garlic Flour As Additional Feed on The Performance of Bangkok Chicken

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of adding garlic flour as an additive on the performance of Bangkok chickens. The research was carried out for 6 weeks from March 13 to April 24, 2024, the research was carried out in Kaliurang Hamlet, Argomulyo Village, Sedayu District, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. This study used 45 Bangkok chickens. The observed variables included feed consumption, body weight growth, feed conversion, and mortality. The analysis data with the analysis of the variance of the Complete Random Design (RAL) unidirectional pattern consisted of 3 treatments with 3 replicates with each replicate of 5 Bangkok chickens. The treatment applied is the administration of garlic flour mixed in every 1 Kg A.D.1 (types of chicken feed from Japfa Comfeed). with the treatment, namely; P0 : Ration control with A.D.1 + 0% garlic flour, P1 = A.D.1 + 1% garlic flour, P2 = A.D.1 + 2% garlic flour. Feed and drinking water are given on an ad-libitum basis. If the results of this study are significantly different, continue with the DMRT test. Average feed consumption P0: 19.72; P1: 21.05; P2: 22.99 grams/head/day. Average body weight gain P0: 9.71; P1: 10.40; P2: 11.03 grams/head/day. Average feed conversion P0: 2.02; P1: 2.03; P2: 2.08. The results of this study showed that the addition of garlic flour as an additive had a real effect (P<0.05) on feed consumption and body weight gain but had no real effect on feed conversion. It was concluded that garlic flour could be used as a feed additive to the level of 2% to increase feed consumption and body weight growth but not affect feed conversion
