Abstract

This research was conducted from March 11 to June 22, 2024, in Jagalan Hamlet, Sukoharjo Village, Ngaglik District, Sleman Regency, DIY, with the aim of determining the effect of using Azolla microphylla flour in the ration on the performance of Hyla rabbits. The study used 24 male rabbits aged 2.5–3 months with an initial average body weight of 1.3 kg, divided into four treatments: P0 (0%), P1 (5%), P2 (10%), and P3 (15%), with three replications. The observed parameters included feed consumption, average daily gain (ADG), feed conversion ratio (FCR), and Income Over Feed Cost (IOFC). The results showed that the addition of Azolla microphylla led to a decrease in feed consumption from 83.35 g/animal/day (P0) to 68.52 g/animal/day (P3). This decrease in consumption impacted ADG, with the highest value achieved by P1 (10.99 g/animal/day) and the lowest by P3 (8.53 g/animal/day). The best feed conversion ratio was found in P1 (6.49), indicating better feed utilization efficiency. Economically, the highest IOFC was obtained at P2, which was Rp 22,988/head, indicating that using Azolla up to 10% still provides optimal economic value. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) showed that feed consumption and PBBH differed significantly between treatments (P<0.05), indicating that the addition of Azolla significantly affected the biological performance of rabbits. This difference is influenced by the bulkier and less palatable nature of Azolla. Feed conversion parameters and IOFC show trends that align with consumption and growth. Overall, the use of Azolla microphylla at a level of 5% provided the best production performance.
