Abstract

Cognitive decline is a common problem in the elderly, especially those living in the Harapan Ibu Nursing Home with limited activities, lack of cognitive stimulation and social interaction can accelerate the decline in memory, attention, perception, language and problem-solving abilities. This study aims to describe the implementation of memory games as an effort to stimulate cognitive function in the elderly at the Harapan Ibu Nursing Home and explore their subjective experiences. A qualitative phenomenological approach was used involving 10 elderly people selected through accidental sampling, data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. The results show that memory games are able to stimulate short-term memory, attention, perception, and problem-solving strategies while triggering personal memories and increasing positive emotional moods. Activities also strengthen social interactions between elderly people. Overall, memory games are a simple but effective activity to support cognitive health and quality of life in the elderly.
