Abstract
Final year students who are preparing their final assignments often face obstacles that can trigger a depressed state, but they must immediately recover because the final assignment must be completed to complete their education. Rising from adversity is called resilience, and to succeed, low hopelessness is needed. The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between hopelessness and resilience in students who are working on their final assignments. It is hoped that the results of the study can be known precisely how hopelessness relates to resilience. Based on this description, the proposed hypothesis is that there is a negative relationship. Participants consisted of 214 students aged 18-25 years from several study programs and universities in Indonesia, with 84.6% female and 15.4% male. The data collection technique used a resilience scale (Resilience Quentient (RQ))) with a reliability of 0.856 and a hopelessness scale (Beck Hopelessness Scale) with a reliability of 0.855. Hypothesis testing in this study used the product moment correlation statistical analysis method, the results of which showed a negative and significant relationship with resilience (rxy = -0.725 (p <0.01)), meaning that the higher the level of hopelessness, the lower the level of student resilience, conversely, the lower the resilience, the higher the hopelessness in students who are working on their final assignment.
