Abstract

Cucumber plants have ample power of adaptation to the environment and does not
require special care. This plant requires a lot of water, but is very sensitive to the advantages
and disadvantages of water. The ground has the ability to save a vertisol moisture in high
ground, but changed very quickly from less became redundant or vice versa. In place of dry soil
moisture farmer should be maintained always in optimal circumstances. One way of tackling the
availability of water is the water around watering the plant. The research aims to find out the
optimum water needs in cucumber plant watering in vertisol. The design used 3 x 4 factorial
Design arranged in Randomized Complete Block Design with 3 replicates. The first factor is the
volume of water is made up of three levels, namely 0.5 l; 1 l; 1.5 l, the second factor is the
frequency of watering water consists of 4 levels, namely twice a day, twice a day once one-time,
two days, three days at a time. The results showed that on a vertisol water volume 1 l with the
frequency of twice a day watering is the optimal water needs in watering the cucumbers and
gives better results.
