EVALUASI POTENSI WILAYAH KECAMATAN WATES UNTUK PENGEMBANGAN TERNAK SAPI POTONG DENGAN POLA INTEGRATED FARMING

Abstract

The aim of this research is to know the potency Wates subdistric area for developing beef cattle by integrated farming system. Sixty eight respondents were taken in a random sampling from eight villages (Karangwuni, Sogan, Kulwaru, Ngestiharjo, Bendungan, Triharjo, Giripeni and Wates). The data were tabulated and analyzed descriptively. This research showed that the average area that are owned for wetland and dryland, 934,57 m2 and 703,71 m2 respectively. The average of beef cattle owned was 1,54 UT with the aim of raising cattle was 89% as main effort. The type of plant which is planted are paddy, corn, peanut, soybean, and cassava, with total straw production are 114.564,92 Kw/year. All of respondents use the straw for feeding their beef cattle, but the productivity of beef cattle was unoptimal, with calving interval 16,69 months, S/C 1,81 and average of body weight 365,34 kg. Based on this research, with the number of cattle 5396 UT and faeces production 17,5 kg/day, produced the faeces 94,43 ton/day, 2% of faeces was sold and 98% was used for fertilizer. It could be concluded that Wates subdistrict has potency for beef cattle development by integrated farming. Key words : Integrated farming, Areal potention, Beef cattle, Wates subdistrict
