Assistance for the Patehan Village Community, Yogyakarta City, in Utilizing Yard Space through Pot Fruit Cultivation (TABULAMPOT)

Patehan Village, Keraton District, Yogyakarta City, has enormous potential in terms of yard space, which can be utilized as a source of nutritious food with high economic value. The Agrotechnology Study Program offers a community service concept based on community empowerment entitled “Assistance for the Community of Patehan Village, Yogyakarta City, in Utilizing Yard Space through Pot Fruit Cultivation (TABULAMPOT)”. Tabulampot was chosen as the main object of community service, with various derivative activities that can be implemented. Community service is carried out with an empowerment concept through three stages, namely awareness, capacity building, and empowerment. In the awareness stage, a focus group discussion (FGD) was held for the community of Patehan Village, Keraton District, Yogyakarta City, with the team of lecturers acting as facilitators. The next stage in the community service program was the capacity-building stage, in which the community's capacity was enhanced through counseling and assistance related to the utilization of yard space, aimed at improving family food security. The community was assisted throughout the process, from preparing planting materials (including organic fertilizer) to preparing seedlings using the grafting method, planting in planter bags, and receiving education on plant care (including pruning, climatology, and handling plant pests and diseases). This education continued through to harvesting and post-harvesting methods. The empowerment stage is the final stage of the community empowerment process. The empowerment phase of the community service program was carried out by encouraging the community to participate actively in Tabulampot cultivation. Based on the pre-test results, it was found that the community's understanding of fruit cultivation using the Tabulampot method and their knowledge of vegetative propagation were still low. However, the post-test results showed that the community service activities were successful in increasing the community's knowledge of the Tabulampot cultivation system and improving their ability to perform vegetative propagation.
